Chrysler . Mazda 626 TroubleshootingMazda produced the 626 sedan up until 2002. The 2002 626 LX was equipped with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. It also came with several different standard features including remote power door locks, 15-inch wheels, cruise control, front door pockets, a remote trunk release, split-folding rear seat back, front seat back storage, air conditioning and front reading lights. Because the 626 is built with so many different parts and systems, it can be difficult to know what needs to be fixed or replaced. One method to troubleshoot the 626 is to look at general troubleshooting principles. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Step by Step : 1 Examine the distributor system of your Mazda when it feels like the engine lacks power as you drive. The distributor cap could be worn, loose or cracked. The rotor kit could also be faulty. 2 Inspect the coil springs of the suspension system in the 626 if the car looks lopsided while it is parked. One or more of the coil springs could be broken or weak. You could also have badly worn or broken shocks or struts, or the tires on the sedan could be mismatched. The strut rod bushing, sway bar and strut mount may also be faulty. Look also at the sway bar bushing to make sure that the stabilizer bar bushings are still working properly. The steering stabilizer bracket should be checked to ensure that it is not loose or broken. 3 Check the oxygen sensor of the 626 if there is a rotten egg or sulfur-like smell coming from the engine exhaust while the car is either idling or driving. Make sure that the sensor is still working properly and has not become damaged. Look at the engine ignition timing and be sure that the pistons are firing in the correct order. The catalytic converter and PVC hoses inside the engine could also be faulty or clogged, or the carburetor may also be dirty or not working as it should. 4 Look at the Mazda's steering gear if you can hear a hissing noise coming from the engine compartment as you turn the vehicle while driving. The steering gear may be worn out. You should also inspect the power steering hose to make sure that it is not leaking and that it is installed correctly. Tips & Warnings Always consult with a qualified mechanic to ensure that you have properly discovered the problems you are experiencing with your 626. This will save you the time from making the wrong repair and the money spent on parts that you may not need.

Odometer Problems With a 1992 Dodge D150 RamIf the odometer on your 1992 Dodge D150 Ram is malfunctioning, there could be three possible issues: the wiring connector, the instrument panel fuse, or the odometer itself. Repairing the problem is fairly simple for most home mechanics. But if the odometer itself is malfunctioning, you will need to replace the whole instrument cluster, which can be fairly expensive. If the wiring connector is the problem, you simply need to plug it back in again. If the fuse is the issue, replacing it will fix the problem. Fuse Issues The instrument panel fuse of the 1992 Dodge D150 is located in the interior compartment of the truck on the driver's side. To access the fuses, remove the cover from the fuse panel with a slotted screwdriver. Once the cover is off, locate the fuse in slot 12. If the metal rod of the fuse is in several small pieces, remove the fuse and replace it with a new 15A fuse. Reattach the cover to the fuse panel. Accessing the Instrument Panel If the fuse is not the issue, the problem is either with the wiring of the odometer or with the odometer itself. To check the wiring or replace the instrument panel, you must first access the cluster. Begin by removing the two bolts underneath the dash above the instrument panel with a socket wrench. Remove the four screws holding in the instrument panel and slide it towards you. This will allow you to check the wiring or replace the instrument panel. Instrument Panel Wiring Reach behind the instrument panel and locate the two wiring harnesses. The harness on the right is the odometer connector. Pull on the odometer's wiring connector. If it comes loose, then plug it back in and test the instrument cluster. If the odometer is not functioning, then the issue is not with the fuse or wiring and is actually with the instrument panel itself. Replacing the Instrument Panel You can buy a new instrument panel for your 1992 Dodge Ram directly from Dodge, but the panel can set you back quite a lot of money. A cheaper alternative is to purchase a used panel online or find one at a junk yard. Once you have obtained a replacement instrument panel, simply connect the wiring connectors to the rear of the panel, reattach the four screws, reinstall the dash and its bolts, and test the instrument panel.
